Why is the sight of Shani Dev terrible?
According to the legend, Shani Dev was a devotee of Lord Krishna and was always engrossed in devotion to Krishna. Once Shani Dev’s wife came to him after having a child. Even at that time Shani Dev was engrossed in the meditation of Krishna. Despite tireless efforts, Shani Dev’s wife could not distract him and became angry. In anger, he cursed Shani Dev that after today, any person on whom Shani Dev’s gaze will fall will be harmed.
Later Shani Dev realized his mistake and apologized to his wife. But the wife had no power to withdraw or nullify the curse. Therefore, after this incident, Shani Dev walks with his head down. Because in their view no harm should happen to anyone.
So that’s why Shani Dev is not worshiped at home.
This is the reason why people do not install the idol or picture of Shani Dev at home to protect themselves from the evil eye of Shani Dev, nor are they worshiped at home.
